He loves astronomy and so do we. he has an older version of this. everytime, i see him constantly reading it analyzing whats in there! Hope he will enjoy reading this new edition. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Mrs. A. Crump -- Great gift idea, for adults as well as children : I have bought this as a gift for my parents after reading other reviews and I'm not disappointed. I had been concerned it might be a 'children's book' but after reading reviews that suggested otherwise took the plunge. I haven't studied the book in detail as it's not for me, but I'm impressed by the layout, text, pictures. I love the fact that it's in chronological order so at any given time you can flick to the relevant page and know what to look for. My parents - who are amatuers in terms of astronomy but say they will look to get more into it as they retire - will love this book, and I think it will get plenty of use as well. With a brief introduction and graphics which shows the beginner how to measure distance, and a brief introduction to types of telescope, it then provides month by month star pages showing what can be seen each month. I would have liked more narrative, but really this is to help you know whats in the sky when - it also has a handy calendar until 2019 of eclipse and other notable astronomical events ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 13, 2016 )

The book is ideal for beginners, great maps of the stars on a monthly basis goes into yearly, my husband also found the info very good and the suggestions as to what telescopes to use for beginners very good, as he is at the moment looking for an upgrade.
